Product Definition
Electrode paste is a type of carbon paste that binds solid carbon materials with adhesive, and begins to soften around 60℃. The properties of solid carbon material are antioxidation, corrosion resistance, high conductivity, such solid carbon material includes Electrically Calcined Anthracite(ECA), carbon residue, calcined petroleum coke and graphite scrap. The binder is soft pitch.
Principle
The product is added to the motor housing which is made of steel plate, the resistance heat generated after being electrified causes it to sinter and coke into electrodes, a lower voltage but a higher current in theelectric furnace, and it is transmitted to the furnace through the electrode, the arc generated by the end of the electrode, and the melt in the furnace, the electric energy is converted into heat energy for high emperature smelting, as smelting proceed, the electrode paste is gradually consumed.
Applications
Electrode paste is mainly applied to ferroalloy and calcium carbide smelting industry, used as self-bake electrode on large electric furnace.
Matters Needing Attention
The electrode is the core of the electric furnace, which directly determines the efficiency and survival of the enterprise, therefore it requires a high storage environment condition.A separate dust-free storage warehouse is compulsory, along with takes along with uses, and it is strictly prohibited to store a large amount of paste on the roof. Tight control the height of the paste column according to the diameter of the electrode, and well distributed the electrode paste by each single shift as appropriate.
The Metallurgical Standard of the People's Republic of China (YB/T 4448-2014) specifies the classification, technical requirement, test methods, inspection rules, package, mark, transportation and storage of self-bake electrode pastes used in closed type, semi-closed type and open type of electric furnace.
